On 25th August 2022, we gathered in the multipurpose hall to learn and celebrate the culture of our 2 friends from Saudi Arabia, siblings Khaled and Rose Alghamdi from Nursery and Junior KG respectively.
Khaled and Rose presented a wonderful chart- artwork prepared from home. The chart contained a brief write up describing the Saudi National Day - the history behind it, the capital city, date of celebration and two stickers of the Saudi Arabian flag.
Along with this, the chart also had pictures showing the religious places of Makkah and Medina, food- lovely dish of Kabsa (which is a meat cooked with rice dish), a bowl of dates . There were also pictures of traditional clothes.
To get a more visual and better understanding, students were shown some videos on the general facts and concepts of Saudi Arabia, that were discussed verbally. The videos were about Saudi Arabia's National Day, which showcased the art, culture, music and folklore, tradition of flying hot air balloons and the celebration with fireworks. The 2nd video focussed on the holy month of Ramadan, its significance and observance. The video also focussed on the modest dress code of the country, in which the men and women mostly wear a thoda and abaya respectively.
A big Thank You to Khaled and Rose for sharing wonderful cultural aspects of their beautiful country Saudi Arabia. It was a great learning experience.
