Celebrating Raksha Bandhan

SKG students celebrated Raksha Bandhan with great enthusiasm. We learned the meaning of Raksha Bandhan -‘Raksha’ means protection and ‘Bandhan’ means bond. It is an Indian festival, during which traditionally, a sister wraps a red-and-gold rakhi (sacred thread of love) around her brother’s wrist and says a prayer for his wellbeing, as she makes a mark on his forehead with red powder. She gifts sweets too, such as coconut burfi, ladoos etc. In return, her brother promises to protect her always and also gifts her with sweets, clothes or money.

We viewed a video related to Raksha Bandhan and children learned the art of gift wrapping. It was an enjoyable celebration!
