Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations

Gandhi Jayanti is an event celebrated in India to mark the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. It is celebrated annually on 2 October, and is one of the three national holidays of India. The UN General Assembly announced on 15 June 2007 that it adopted a resolution which declared that 2 October will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence as he was a non-violent freedom fighter. He is also known as the "Father of The Nation" and this title was given to him by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose for his relentless struggles for independence.

Gandhi Jayanti is celebrated every year at Beaumont to commemorate the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi- The father of our nation.

All the students gathered in the MPH to pay homage to our dear Bapu, as Gandhiji is often fondly addressed. On the first day we viewed videos -about Gandhiji's life story and The 3 Wise Monkeys- representing the principle "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil". On the 2nd day we read a story based on Gandhiji's life and also had a short related quiz.

We bow our heads in gratitude to this great man, truly a Mahatma.

"Be the change that you wish to see in the world" Mahatma Gandhi
